Choice and style
The 2023 Ford Transit has several qualities that allow it to meet the most important requirements. It is available with a low, regular or high roof, with two wheelbases, and with a choice of commercial van, team transport or passenger transport for up to 15 people. At its largest, the Transit can carry up to 15,189 litres of cargo, in a space that is easy to fit out and customize.
Two engines
Transit is available with two powertrains: a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V-6 engine that produces 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, and a turbocharged 3.5-litre V-6 engine that produces 310 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The Transit can tow up to 7,500 pounds. The Trail version gets the turbocharged V6. It also comes with a lifted suspension, off-road tires and rugged exterior styling.
An electric Transit
A third engine is also on the menu. Called the E-Transit, it's powered by an electric motor with 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels only, through a fixed-ratio transmission. With a 68 kWh battery, the E-Transit can travel up to 203 kilometres on a single charge. A full Level 2 charge takes 8 hours, and an 80% charge at a Level 3 fast charging station takes only 34 minutes.
Plenty of equipment
Among the new features for 2023, the Ford Transit now has a larger optional 12-inch central screen housing the SYNC4 system. This system allows for the full integration of Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Electrically adjustable seats, a telescoping and tilting steering column and a long list of driver aids, including Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning, round out the attributes available for the 2023 Ford Transit.
